With broken hearts, we say goodbye too soon to Helmut Turkowsky, at the age of 75. He was husband to Karen, father to Karla, Greg (Riza), grandfather to Lucas, “almost brother” to the late Ann Wieler, “adoptive father” to Chantelle Szanto, and beloved friend and chosen family to many more.
If the value of a life can be judged by quality of relationships, by loyal friendships, generosity of spirit, and boundless devotion to family, then Helmut’s life was truly priceless. He will live on in our memories and for that we are grateful.
Helmut founded Bowdens Information Services in Ottawa in 1973 and, later, H&K Communications. After retirement he “tried” to play golf, enjoyed traveling with friends, entertaining both family and friends, and haunting “VV” and “Boutique Vinny” looking for bargains.
Helmut greatly appreciated the care of many health professionals at the Ottawa Hospital, especially the cancer care teams. If desired, donations to the hospital cancer care program could be considered.
The family will greet friends and family on Tuesday, October 20th at 9:30 am at St. Patrick’s Basilica, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Due to Covid restrictions, we ask that everyone please wear a mask. A celebration to honour Helmut will be held in July next summer when we hope Covid will be but a bad memory. Tributes, condolences and donations may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
